1010 w/out live power

Anybody do much mowing/bushogging with a tractor without live PTO power? Moving to a bigger tractor and it does not have live power. Can it be converted? Can P/S be added? Also, the tractor is an RUS 1010 "Special" What does the special mean? The guy I bought it from is a large collector and he indicated that some of the 1010's were problem machines. He wasn't too worried about this one though. Any thoughts?
