Many people use chain for the top link because they like how it allows the mower to follow the contour of the ground better. This can be a very dangerous practice. Because, if the mower catches on something (big rock, stump, post, etc...) the tractor's front end could suddenly come up and the chain top link would collapse allowing the tractor to roll over backwards.ouch!
