It was the coil. I don't recall where I got the coil I put in the 1010 but it went bad. I got the one the parts book at the store says to use, a 6 volt coil, and it started right up. The coil in it was a 12 volt. I tested the resistance and the 6 volt had about 1.5, the 12V about 1.3 so it seems it was bad. Now I have to check and see if there is a ballast resistor somewhere in the wiring or switch I was unaware of. The gen is 12V and the lights are 12v so there must be something there I didn't know about. Thanks to all who helped!
