Ok, sounds like it's probably going to work for you but if you still need a wiring diagram email me later. Have fun with it. I don't know if the folks at this link have a clutch for your 440 but they have some others for JD for less $$.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
