With a battery fence charger you are probably only about half a joule energy per pulse. At even two pulses per second that is only one watt output. Assuming only 50% efficiency that means your power drain is 2 Watts or current drain is 1/3rd amp at 6 volts.
Now a mains unit might put out 2 Joules per pulse (which would give you a very large jolt). They are usually less, unless for looooong fence runs.
Often, rearing pens for pheasants are protected from foxes in the way I described.
