I use a .22 with a scope, hold the gun up to the shoulder with the trigger hand and steady with the flashlight held to the scope. One shot to the head and they usually get just out of the bardyard before they die. They don"t seem to run at night and the light doesn"t scare them (and it sounds like yours are conditioned to lights anyhow!)
