Pull the intake loose off carb and see if it runs better. If so your air cleaner may be plugged up. If it doesn't have the external intake stack the cap on air cleaner under hood may be plugged or smashed down too. The whole air cleaner, stack, & pipe may be plugged with old grease, dirt, gunk or mud daubers nests. Do you have the Marvel Schebler USX carb or later Zenith carb? Seems to be problems with the newer Zenith carbs being sold by many quick $$$ dealers too.
