I cut my index finger with a bow saw , about 30 years or so ago. Cut the tendon clean in two. Like you said , healed on the outside. Took quite a long time(months) to heal on the inside. Other than the scar , you'd never know anything ever happened. Healed up good as new. Brother cut hand off in hay baler. Other than a little deformed , he has full use of that hand again.
