Old, I did build one that way. 12 volt battery, ignition coil from a Pontiac, turn signal flasher from a Ford, and I even had a condensor wired in there somewhere. The thing did work, but with no place for the built up charge to go, unless you shorted it, the charge in the wire just kept building up. I was afraid to actually use it, figgered it might kill a cow or something.
