I've always been told by my grandfather and neighbors that mowing during the summer/fall time keeps the snow from piling up in the ditches and eventually closing down roads, that is of course if you get snow in your area. Here in South Dakota we have some problems during the winter with snow so we do what we can now to help... plus that grass is feed for cattle, can't beat that...
