Not mowing ditches and allowing fence lines to grow will improve wildlife habitat. Before brush killing chemicals and equipment that made fence row clean up easy, rabbits and quail had plenty of places to hide and raise young. Fence row to fence row farming and the introduction of Kentucy 31 fescue along with the protection of birds of prey have made small game hard to come by. As every cloud has a silver lining, maybe the high price of fuel might allow for the growth of small game again. Seems the rabbits are easy to find in neighborhoods, but tougher to find when hunting, and a "clean" farm is a waste of time when hunting small game.
