I have a few miles of fence rows and ditches, and I use round-up on all of it. To hell with weed eating. I shoot round up to the point where I can get close enough with my zero turn mower. I use it on the driveway, to keep the grass from growing through the gravel, about 6 inches out from the house and barns, and ever around my wife's flower beds. Heck I don't think I have started my weed eater in a year!
