I have a tractor that needs a new home. The problem is it's A-a Fordson super major '63 model, a good tractor but not very popular herebouts and B-it is apart because of the crankshaft. The crank rod and main journals will "turn out" at .010-.010 but the rear thrust surface is worn more than .050 beyond specs. Buying a new crank (and every thing else that it needs for an engine rebuild) will put my dollar investment beyond what the tractor is worth. The crank is the "tie breaker' here. Some people have advised me to fab up some thurst washer spacers bolt it back together and sell it. Now I can't claim to be the world's finest feller, but I will not sell someone a "ticking bomb" just waiting to blow up. Any advice? Ideas? Is this spacer deal as bad as I'm afraid it is?
