I have this "friend", Pete, I've known since the 9th grade. He has a really annoying dog (Buster) that has caused lots of trouble around her. Last Fall he killed one of our chickens. We told Pete that the dog does not leave the car when he is here. Since, there have been several times where he opens the door for Buster RIGHT IN FRONT OF US and lets him out. When we tell him to put him back in the car he gets mad and drives off. Last evening (7-ish) Pete stopped by for a few minutes (never even got out of the car). When he started the car to leave, Buster jumped out of the open window and chased down one of the cats. I beaned the dog with my cane, but missed being able to grab him. Pete got him in the car and high-tailed it out of here. Four hours later the cat died. I e-mailed Pete about it and told him "DO NOT bring Buster back on the place". In return I got a nasty e-mail blaming me and the cat and absolving Buster of the whole thing ("Buster knows what to do with a cat"). He said that he would no longer "communicate" with either my wife nor I. To me, it's just like a parent who's child can do no wrong. I'm fed up with the dog (there is a LONG history of this dog and trouble - including an incident with a 3 tier block wall). My wife told me that she's sorry that I lost a friend. I told her that I didn't - a friend wouldn't act like he has. Sorry for the rant! I just wish people would start taking responsibility for things!

Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
