We have a MH50 and this happens to us every year or two. My solution has been a bit more extreme in that I take out the bolts that support the steering gear, move that ahead a bit, and then move the shift rails back into position. Same fix as others, just more hassle since I didn't know about the other approaches. Like the others said, you have to decide whether to shift carefully, or go replace or rebuild the shift lever and rails. It's the kind of problem that happens often enough to be a pain, and rarely enough that you tend to let it go because with a little effort you can avoid it.
