I have a Woods rock rake (called a York rake around here for some reason) and wasn't too impressed with it at first. Here's what I've found that works for me. 1. Don't be in a hurry. Several passes may be necessary. 2. Set the wheels deep for the first pass or two, then pick the rake up slightly to get the rocks "windrowed" 3. On harder ground or with relatively large rocks, mine would frequently "ride over" the load (no down pressure on my three point). I built a small weight rack about18" square on the main frame being careful not to interfere with the angling mechanism. A couple of cement blocks makes a BIG difference in how it works.
