Bob, FWIW, that mey be a Delco number: I"ve got a Niehoff catalog that shows a number 710 (sandwiched in among all the usual DR 1108etc numbers) for some 12V TD"s and TD14"s, 1944-47, and TD-14A"s 48-56. The section on DR to Niehoff conversion numbers starts with 178N, climbs thru hundreds,(but has no 700"s), thousands, and hundred thousands before getting to the usual 1118881 type of number. Conversion table does not ID numbers as to ignition, gen or str component; this not my field, so I could be misunderstanding something here.
