The 4 98 Ford industrial engine was used in many skid steers. It is basically a pinto engine ran at lower speed with a governor. I had a skid steer with one and thats what I was told. Probably a lot bigger than an Onan though. As long as the RPMs are the same and the drive for the pumps is lined up, you should be able to put a diifferent engine in. Be careful not to add too much extra power. It could cause major problems. Good luck. Dave
