Gas Tank Repair

I found some leaks in the top of the gas tank on my model B John Deere. There are several pin hole leaks rusted through. It is mainly in one area where the hood strap contacts the tank. How would a gas tank repair shop fix these holes? Would they solder, weld a patch over them or fix with an exopy like JB Weld?
