Trash is the short answer. Three bottoms on a three point get too close together to pass corn stalks and plug up unless the corn stalks are shreaded with a stalk chopper (typically a big flail mower). Even my Case 2 bottom did that a lot. And when it got pluged it took me a lot of work to get it back plowing. The last I plowed was with a semi mounted 3 or 4 bottom AC plow where the plow beam is long and the space between bottoms lets unchopped corn stalks pass. The semimounted plow puts some down pressure on the tractor three point hitch (using only the two bottom pins) and has its own lift wheel for steering and depth control out back. Its not as maneuverable as a three point plow but its more maneuverable than a full trailer plow. The best plows I've seen for clearance are the IH 720 series. Long beam, lots of space between plow bottoms and bottoms mounted by a single smooth tall shank. Gerald J.
