In reply to ltfin nc. The battery is hooked up with a positive <+> ground like all of the old JD's. The wire from the ignition switch is hooked to the - side of the coil. I ran the tractor today with a 12 volt battery with good points, 6 volt coil, resistor connected in between the + side of the coil and the distributor. It ran about 5 munites before it staring skipping and it ran another 5 munites before cutting off. It will be a week before I get to run it again.
