I like a Ruger Mark II stainless in .22 long rifle for snakes. Sig Sauer P220 in .45 or a Keltec .32 (guns I normally concealed carry) do fine too but a bit of overkill for a snake.

The Keltec's nice b/c its so light, polymer frame, just weighs ounces. Accurace isnt great and its better against a man sized target than a snake sized one. The Sig and the Ruger are much more accurate.
