As said below, press the emergancy brake about one notch and it will turn them off, yet it still will not put a drag on the brake. If it was like the 2000 model I use to drive they will burn out often anyway. You should be able to mount an on/off switch under the dash and tie it into the wire going to the brake switch if you don't trust the emergancy brake way of turning them off.
