You never can tell - I had 180,000 of hard, hard farm miles on my 1992 F-250 with a 351. It didn"t use oil and had good oil pressure. I was running down the highway full bore when it started clattering. I suspected it threw a rod - I was really surprised when we opened it up - a piston had broken in two pieces... No reason that I know of - except just plain wore out... HH

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
