You might try disabling the "turn off hard drive", "system standby", and "hibernation" options in power options in the control panel.

The wakeup function is flaky on a wide range of brands.

I work in IT and it that is just a problem in a lot of them. I like to leave the "turn off monitor" to 20 minutes (or whatever you like), since it is easier on the monitor...
