Well I bought a '77 Camaro new with a 350 V-8 in it and it went 280,000 till a head gasket let go. If I had changed the radiator out that summer it happened it probably would still be running. Still was using only a quart of oil every 1000 miles or so, and the milage and power had held up. Going Chev at the time had been a big decision. I remember thinking going into it that the 350 might go 80,000 before I would have to get rid of it. That "new" 6.0 L they are offering in the 2500's makes more power (but less torque) than the Ford V-10. Who the heck says you need overhead cams in a pickup truck anyway? Another thing: Our '87 has a "2 piece" front axle, pinned in the middle. It has always surprised me how well that thing rode and handled. Well the new F250HD 4x4's have 1 piece axles. That, and the styling tells me they have been taking Dodge lessons. Like it or not, it appears to be GM's race to lose.
