The earth is tipped at an angle in relation to the sun. Our part of the earth (the northern hemisphere) is tipped furthest away from the sun on roughly Dec. 21st every year (winter solstice) so we recieve the least amount of light from the sun on this day each year. Conversly, the 21st of june , we are the closest to the sun and recieve the most light. Hope this makes your day SUNNY Dean....Have a Merry Christmas. Larry NE IL
