You left a lot of details out.... but around here that would be fairly normal for a good quality 8-8 2 wire hose. I've had 4 wire hoses no more that 4 feet long with flat face fittings run that much alone. I've had the 20 buck Dayco hoses too. They don't last. Period. It's worth it to buy Parker or Gates. GoodYear isn't around these parts so much, so can't really comment... If these are small hoses with simple fittings, then you may have paid a bit much for a good quailty, but I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it. Rod
