needing to extend the mandrel shaft on a sawmill by about 4 feet .Shaft size is 2-3/16 .I can not find a piece of shaft that size .I have a piece of 2 " shaft . what would be the best way of fastening them end to end ? I thought about getting 2 sprockets with the right bore ,welding them to the end of each shaft [they are not keyed ]and wrapping them together with a double roller chain .The new shaft will be supported by a couple of pillow block bearings . Do you think this will work ? I checked on lovejoy couplings but none were big enough Also thought about maybe machining a coupling but was wondering about it running true with each other .What do you guys think or any other suggestions
