Yes the JD guys will say it will be worth more when you sell it. So what.

But farming for a living why have extra dollars invested in machinery when you could invest those dollars in more land or something else.

Example: When I bought my 1086 in 78 for $21,000 I could have bought a 4430 for $27,000.
Those tractors today are worth $13,000 and $19,000. So if you figure the interest on that $6,000 difference over the years why invest the extra money. Either one will get the job done.

I look at kinda like buying a Cadillac to drive or a Chevy. Both will get you there but you can say you own a Cadillac.
