Wire for in-ground (invisible) fencing

I purchased an in-ground fencing system yesterday at TSC that came with 1,000 feet of wire. This is enough to surround just under an acre, I believe, but the area I'd like to fence is about two acres. The cost of extra wire at TSC was prohibitive: $44.99 for another 500 feet! Is there a cheaper place to buy insulated copper wire? Would an electrical supply store have similar wire at a cheaper cost? I don't know the gauge offhand, but it isn't exactly hefty stuff...
