Good morning Allan It looks as if all the bases have been covered on this running a little warm situation. You have probably check the cap to be sure it is holding good pressure. I would just put a new one on to be sure. IN case you have a way to check the temperature of the top tank versus the bottom tank, the temp should drop around 10 degrees. If you have a substantial difference it would indicate there is not enough flow thru the flues. Someone before you might have closed off too many in the past to cure a leaking problem. You will probably lower the running temp with the fan change, but just in case Don
