Carl; The first thing that you should do is pull the starter off and put it on the bench and see if it will turn over by itself. Use a set of jumpers to connect from your battery to the starter. Make sure the starter is secure and that all fingers are out of the way. You just want to make sure it tunrs over and spins good without dragging. Check the bendix to make sure it engages and disengages. Next take a socket wrench and put it on the end of the crank and make sure that you can turn the engine over by hand. Make a complete revolution so that you know there are no binding. It should not be too hard to turn with a 1/2 inch flex handle. Next check you wiring from your battery to your starter to make sure that you have good connections and that every connection point is clean. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.
