juju bead,I certanly hope you can help. thanks. about 3 weeks ago I took it out for the 1st. time this season. after about 4 miles it started missing on 1 cylinder so I headed for home on remaining cylinder. got about 2 miles from home heard a pop and it died completly. It had no compression on eather cyl. Hauled it home and took off head. found piston rings had broken up on 1st. cyl and hole on top of 2nd. cyl to fail. That explains the pop noise. jugs were ok with a good honing so ordered new pistos and rings from dealer and asked him what he thinks went wrong. He sked if I had put stableizer in tank last spring. I ssaid I did. He ssked if I had put fresh gas in this year .I said I did not. He took carbs apart and determined I had 2 problims #1 the carbs had wrong jets in for my area ( so. Mn) they were to small. said people changed them to get better performance out of them. I bought the 1999 machine used in 2003. 2nd. problem was using last years gasstill in tank. So $411 later I had the thing together and it run perfect. then weather turned cold and I did not ride untill today. 25 above. This time I got 3 mi. down the road and heard the familier pop. I shut it down imedeatly and hauled it home. I have no compression on one cyl. and suspect I burned a hole in top of piston again. I have not pulled head yet to confirm. What is happoning? apairently dealers thoughts were wrong so what is it. thankyou for your interest nd I apoligise to tactor talk people for cluttering your forum with a nonrelated problem. flying belgian....

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
