Experience is a key in most activities. If I were you, I would find a job for a few years and get that experience on someone else's nickel. The school for which I work hires a variety of people at various levels of experience and knowledge. Some are still here, others have moved on. One problem with working for yourself. You need to make more than you expect. You will be expected to pay both ends of your SSI, you will be expected to pay your own insurance, you will need to pay for your own vacation, tools and more. BTW, while working for someone else, they might foot the bill for your certification and the classes that get you there.
