I used the differential lock on my 4020 a lot. When planting, it helps it go straight. When plowing it helps it go straight and get more work done from not spinning a tire. When disking it helps it go straight and without the differential locked it hops from side to side and that ripped off one muffler when it got violent. Now with differential lock on, it just hops up and down, not side to side. That's disking in plowed ground at 6 mph the first pass. The entire differential lock except for the little pedal is inside the housing and all run by oil pressure so there's very little to rust from lack of use. Maybe the links from the brake pedals that turn differential lock off. But I've gone notill, I don't plow or disk and I plant with a smaller tractor to save fuel. The 4020 is the loader and tall sprayer tractor now. Gerald J.
