Posted this in implement alley but not much as much activity over there. I need a disk for my 4230 (100 hp). I have used a 20' kewannee disk several times and it pulls just fine except that I lose traction in loose soil the 2nd time around. I found 3 disks in my price range. IH 475 18' non fold. 19" disks.... IH 475 Manual fold (has springs) 19" Disks..... Krause 1404 22' hydraulic fold 20" Disks They all seem to be clean and in pretty good shape with no welds. Bearings look ok. The Krause seems to be a little heavier disk. They all have standard disks (not cone shaped) The disks on the krause seem to be a built a little thicker than the IH disks. I will be using it in blackland. 1. Which disk would be the best match for my 4230? 2. I dont have ballast in the tires or weights on it...if I added ballast would the 4230 pull the 22' disk ok? 3. The IH Disks seem a little thinner but smooth, no chunks out of em..How do I gauge how worn they are? Thanks, gorilla
