Speaking as one of the few "not on the take" I have investigated cases of semi tractor trailers being stolen and then we have found them with the gps tracking systems. I think that if you have the serial number of the trailer make sure that the police officer enters it in NCIC as a stolen item. You can use the tracking system to locate it, then the local officials in the jurisdiction the trailer is in can recover it. Maybe you might need to contact his supervisor and ask a few questions. Some officers do not have enough drive to fully investigate the offense. I can assure you that if you tell me it is in my county I will go get it and use your gps tracking information as evidence to prosecute the person responsible. Just my 2 cents worth.
