I agree with all that the 6.0 was a big mistake. According to the Ford reps that ran the latest update class on the 6.4 is: Ford told Navistar they wanted an engine of X hp and X decibels when running. The 6.0 is what Navistar came up with. The 6.4 has been designed by Ford and Navistar is going to produce it. Power chips instantly void the powertrain warranty. The 6.4 is going to high pressure fuel like the Duramax and like the Cummins has been since about '02. Using fuel with any sulfur quickly kills the injectors. The 6.4 will be entirely controlled by a Ford PCM (Powertrain Control Module) unlike the current FICM (fuel injection control module) provided by Navistar that works with the Ford PCM and GEM modules. I like the looks of a Ford, but if I were going to buy a diesel it would be an ugly Dodge. Looks don't mean much when you're waiting for a tow. What's interesting to note is when you get up to the F550 & F650 you can get the same 5.9 Cummins as in a Dodge. If the designers in the Chrysler division of D.C. would remember that the ugly and poorly engineered cars of the 70's up to the 90's nearly put them out of business. They may be better in the engineering dept today, but the ugly designs aren't selling well. Why else would Mercedes be trying to unload Chrysler.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
