In addition to worrying about the pto, also check the intake connections on the pump. When I first started using mine, it was leaking a little and sucking air along with the water. It made vibration a big problem, so much so that if the output hose touched anything it would rub a hole in it. I replaced the intake hose with a new one and the pump is dead quiet now.
