Over the years I have ran most of the fore-mentioned tractors: John Deeres, Fords, Allis, Farmalls, and Masseys. I have to agree with John d. What dealers are in your area, what is their reputation for obtaining parts, and how willing are they to help you? I also agree with Highboyford on how a tractor "feels" to you. Personally, I do not like narrow front tractors, and I have driven several (this is just a personal preforance, and others may disagree) I admit they look better, but I have had some bad experiences even on flat ground. Diesal is not always bad if you can get clean fuel to it and if you crank it often enough to keep the battery built up. They can be hard to jump start if the battery is totally dead. Live PTO is a must if you are using a mower of any type and also with a hay bailer. These are just a few of my thoughts for what they are worth. What ever you get, you will enjoy it and probably have to have another.
