That Wico XB battery distributor if that's what you have on it is a 6V only system when setup with original coil and if hooked up to 12V and didn't use a step down resistor to 6V on it you fried the new coil. Something else on the XB dist. is make sure you go the right condenser for it and have a spring under it to ground it properly. If you want a copy of XB service manual or parts list send me a email. If it's a Wico XH magneto and not battery ignition distributor and you hooked a battery to it you fried the coil also.
