Jade, Of course we all have our own opinions and I'll express mine as the others have done theirs. The Olivers of the 50s and 60s fit your bill nicely. The 550, and its predecessor the Super 55, have already been mentioned and have the 3 point, live pto, etc. in a compact size. They may be a bit pricey, however. If you're not against going bigger, then I highly suggest looking at Oliver's Super 77 or Super 88 or the later updates of these models, the 770 and 880. You may be able to find one equipped with 3 point and all had live power. In addition, the smooth 6 cylinder power is works far better on pto work (ie balers) than the 2 cylinder John Deeres of the era. I highly suggest steering clear of these as they are not a handy tractor for this kind of work. Hand clutch and primitive expanding shoe clutch are a far cry from the Olivers mentioned above. Just trying to help out, here. No offense intended to JD fans. The Allis Chalmers of the time are good too, but do not have a comfortable operator platform and pedals are difficult for those vertically challenged individuals to manipulate. If you can afford to go into the 60s, then the Oliver 1600, 1550, 1650, etc. will do nicely. They're a bit larger, but most all will have the 3 point, and Oliver's live pto with the easy controls, good choice of transmission speeds, 6 cylinder power, and not to mention, good looks. Most of all, as was stated, get one that's comfortable to handle, smooth to operate, and easy to mount/dismount. Best of luck and happy hunting.
