dave my 96 done that very thing with 4400 lbs of crushed corn on it as I was feeding one day. About 5000 miles. The dealor sent for it and worked on it for a week, they were even taking parts off new truck to try and fix mine. As it turned out it was a sensor of some kind that had detected dirty oil, they changed oil twice and it got to were it would start and run. It done this a couple times and I would change oil and it ran fine. After that it never done it again. I have seen several Fords with power strokes setting on side of road puffing white smoke and I assumed they were having the same trouble. Mine has not done again since 1997. I think if you change your oil it will work. Just my experiance with mine.
