For that kind of money I'd be looking for a 5288/5488, they are a huge improvement over the older IH tractors and you should be able to find one in that price range or close to it. We have three 1066s, a 1086 and a 5488 and the 5488 is by far the nicest to run out of the bunch plus the rear ends in them are built strong enough that there isn't much worry about tearing one up. The transmission and rear end in the 88s are the same basic design still being used in the new Magnums (alot of the same part numbers still being used) and they use a true powershift instead of a TA.
