If WFE isn't going to reply to this one, then I'll lend some help. The JDs will work on the pto, just not as smoothly as any other tractor. Why else do you think John Deere had to put square pto shafts on their tractors and implements before it was standardized? Because the power surges caused by that cantankerous sputtering 2 banger wreaked havoc on implement drivelines. Oliver had it right with 6 cylinders, I agree, but a Farmall, Allis, Case, etc. with 4+ cylinders will do fine as well.
