If I'm following you correctly, I don't think there's anything wrong. That terminal is supposed to have power on it. When it's charging, it should have full voltage. The light only works on a very small difference between that and the battery.... mabey 2 V or something like that.
10si's are like this.... If they charge (put the light out), keep the battery up, and don't run it down over a period of idle time, there's nothing wrong with the alternator..... Rod
