Tweeter, I did something similar with a smaller tractor/hoe. Assuming your reservoir is sized for the hydraulic pump, you'll be fine. If you can do sustained loader work, you'll be able to do the same with the hoe.

You didn't say what size pump you've got but I found that while my loader works fine, my pump makes the hoe a little slow. I end up working at high engine rpm to make it up. Even so, no problem with my hydraulic fluid overheating even with prolonged backhoe use. I've used mine commercially.
