JD's are easy to service, such as a "b" or 50. clutch replacement is easy. You don't need to break tractor in half to replace clutch. Brakes are easy also. I live in north Pa. in the mountians,. About any tractor w/ 3point hitch, figure 2100.00 and up, plus attachments. I mow approx 20 acers. I have a 5 foot self contained tow behind mower. I use a C100 Wheel Horse (10 hp) to tow it. These machines can be purchased new for around 1300.00. Old garden tractors for a couple hundred. John Deere 2 cylinder tractors are good machines. you can always get you money back if you buy RIGHT! Like the other responder said take time, don't jump into just anything. Ed.
