i have been restoring a 246 jd corn lanter. i have it apart putting it back togther. have a problem that maybe someone else has had. i welded one of the shanks(the part the shoe bolts to and the seed can sits on top of) was putting it back togher and cracked the other shank. figured out that the front bar where the two bolts go is about 3/8 inch to close to the back bar. the shank wont fit without a little help. this bends the front bar which when you tighten all the bolts twists the shank. since it is cast steel it cracks. was wondering if anyone else every had this problem.
